Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Q: I'm a complete beginner. Which plants are best for me?
A: We recommend starting with our "New Plant Parent Starter Kit" featuring a Snake Plant, or try a ZZ Plant or Pothos. These are nearly impossible to kill and very forgiving as you learn!
Q: How do I know what size pot to buy?
A: Choose a pot that's 1-2 inches larger in diameter than your plant's current pot. All our plants come with sizing recommendations, and our team can help you select the perfect match.
Q: Do your plants come with care instructions?
A: Absolutely! Every plant includes a personalized care card with watering schedules, light
requirements, and troubleshooting tips specific to that variety.
Plant Care
Q: How often should I water my plants?
A: It depends on the plant, pot size, and environment. Generally, most houseplants need water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Our care cards include specific guidance for each plant.
Q: My plant's leaves are turning yellow. What's wrong?
A: Yellow leaves usually indicate overwatering, though it can also mean natural aging or nutrient
deficiency. Check soil moisture first - if it's soggy, reduce watering frequency.
Q: Why are my plant's leaves dropping?
A: Leaf drop can be caused by overwatering, underwatering, sudden environmental changes, or
natural adjustment to a new home. Most plants need 2-4 weeks to acclimate.
Q: How much light do plants really need?
A: "Bright, indirect light" means near a window but not in direct sun rays. "Low light" means several feet from a window or in rooms with less natural light. We include light meters in our plant parent kits!
Q: Should I repot my plant right away?
A: Let new plants settle for at least a month before repotting unless they're severely root-bound. Spring is the best time for repotting most houseplants.

Troubleshooting
Q: I think my plant has pests. What should I do?
A: Take a photo and bring it in or email us! Most common houseplant pests are treatable with neem oil or insecticidal soap, which we carry in-store.
Q: My plant isn't growing. Is something wrong?
A: Growth slows in winter months - this is normal! Also check that your plant has adequate light,
nutrients, and isn't root-bound.
Q: Can you help identify a plant I already own?
A: We'd love to help! Bring in a photo or leaf sample, and we'll do our best to identify it and provide care guidance.
